Richard Parks’ 737 Challenge would like to say a huge thank you to Pontypridd RFC who raised £700 on Saturday with a special bucket collection for former Pontypridd player Richard Parks.
Ponty fans dug deep and raised a record amount for a match day collection at Sardis Road for the former Ponty favourite who is currently mid way through his world first 737 Challenge race to climb the highest mountain on each of the world's 7 continents and venture to The South Pole and The Geographic North Pole.
Ponty beat Swansea 37-7 in the Principality Premiership clash and tickets for the SWALEC Cup semi final tie between Pontypridd and Swansea on 9th April at Cardiff Arms Park are now available from the club.
Richard signed for Pontypridd in 1999 and not only won the Principality cup with Ponty, he earned his first full international cap whilst playing for the side. It was a hugely successful spell for the club and his 3 seasons at Sardis Road were some of the fondest memories of Parks’ rugby career.
737 Challenge Fundraising Manager Lindsey Bridgeman stated; “We would like to thank Theresa Davies and the Committee at Ponty for all their support and most of all to the fans who donated so much to Richard’s challenge which is raising funds in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. On behalf of Richard, I would like to wish the team all the best for the SWALEC semi final this weekend”.
If you would like to do your bit like the Ponty fans and donate to the 737 Challenge, which is aiming to raise £1million pounds in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, please visit our donate page.
