Ponty pull out all the stops for Parksy
24th August 2011
Richard Parks’ former club Pontypridd hosted a special night celebrating Richard’s epic achievements on Friday night with fans and the club raising £3,920 for Richard’s 737 Challenge, which is raising funds in of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
It was a night back at Sardis Road that the former Ponty favourite will hold dear to him; “Sharing my 737 Challenge at Ponty last week was a really special evening for me. Sardis Road has a very special place in my heart and it was great to go back there to share some of my experiences with so many familiar faces and friends” he stated.
The evening took an in-conversation format with fans and friends getting up close and personal with Richard. He added; “The evening was different to all the other things I have done already. I really enjoyed the intimacy of the night and I am very grateful to everyone that came along and helped me fundraise for Marie Curie Cancer Care”.
“Pontypridd fans have been hugely supportive of me not just throughout my rugby career but also throughout my 737 Challenge, I was blown away and humbled by the reception and how generous everyone was on the night”.
Ponty have now raised £4,620 for Richard’s challenge, which is raising funds in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and will continue to raise funds for the former flanker.
Finally he stated; “To raise nearly £4,000 on Friday was just awesome. I’d like to say a special thank you to Theresa Davies and Peter Johnson who made the night possible for me and also to World of Groggs for making a special one off edition Grogg of me in Ponty kit which was bid for so generously.
